Meeting of November 11, 1998

An excellent meeting, we learned some interesting stuff.  And some not so interesting stuff. All that aside, we have a special treat for this meeting. Josh asked CVMO's very own Sarah Dalton to take the meeting's minutes (since she has the most legible handwriting). As you'll soon see, she went above and beyond the call of duty and took every single minute. I would like to say now that I am in no way responsible for the content of this page (and am rather thankful that Mrs. Stout does not have Internet Access), I am only relating Sarah's version of events.

3:00-3:21:  Eat.  Mrs. Stout calls us all nerds.

3:22: Josh welcomes us.  Ryan Shenck hits Chris. He screams like a woman.

3:23: Josh reviews what we did at the last meeting.

3:23:30:  Phil gives address of CVMO Online.  (You're looking at it.)

3:24: Mrs. Stout gives lecture abou skills we need to know.  "How can we calculate?", i.e. Skills no one needs.

With that we plunged into the afternoon's grueling lesson...finding square roots...

This is an interesting skill.  You can find the square root of any number you like, to any degree of accuracy you like...and if you'd like to learn about it, talk to me IN PERSON. There is no way I can relate to you all that we did without using a large number of pictures.  This would hog Firebolt Communications web space, which I certainly can't do with a clear conscience.

3:48: Robert St. Pierre shows us another method not suitable for humans but rather a method for computers to find roots of numbers.  Any roots, in fact, if you play with it a bit.  If you're interested, email me.  Meanwhile, Chris ditches the meeting and then comes back to interrupt and ask about the Chem test.

3:52: Mrs. Stout asks Ryan Shenck to check out her book so he can explain how to do cube roots.

3:53: Phil asks about slide rules.

3:53:30: Mrs. Stout tells story about HS.  She taught her Physics class in highschool, and later while in college ended up in a Physics class with a bunch of Physics teachers.

3:55: She gets to the point of her story to say that she doesn't know much about slide rules.

3:56: David Kim's brother wants to do graphing!  Other members pick up stones...

3:56:30: A tragedy is avoided when Mrs. Stout 'admits' class is boring.

3:57: Phil volunteers to teach class about CBL.

3:57:30: Mrs. Stout tells another story.

3:58: Phil corrects Mrs. Stout.

3:58:30: Mrs. Stout corrects Phil.

3:59: Meeting ends.

There you have it, another high quality CVMO meeting.  If you have any questions, email me. Thanks.
